Château Chasse-Spleen is one of the most famous and respected wines of Bordeaux. Château Chasse-Spleen has remained faithful to the traditional technology of wine production. The use of a machine for berry selection is the only concession to modern technology. At the winery, the grapes are carefully sorted, and the best berries are selected. Vinification is carried out in stainless steel and wooden tanks under strict temperature control, after which the wine is aged for 12-15 months in barrels, of which 40% are renewed each year. In 2020, Bordeaux had a mild but very wet spring, which ensured both early bud break and flowering. The spring rains well saturated the soil with moisture, which proved useful for the vines during the hot and dry summer of that year. Periodic summer thunderstorms with hail caused local damage, reducing yields. Thunderstorms in combination with high temperatures also created ideal conditions for the development of mildew. Growers had to be extremely vigilant in combating mildew, which caused the loss of a large part of the harvest in some places. The harvest was one of the earliest in Bordeaux. Overall yields were slightly below average, but the fruit was mostly healthy and of high quality.
