Interesting facts

Chateau Petit Faurie de Soutard, 2015 is a refined wine, delicate and pleasant already in its youth, with an excellent price-quality ratio. The grapes for the wine are grown on clay-limestone soils on the slopes of the hills and on sandy soil near the coast. The age of the vines, cultivated within the framework of environmentally friendly agriculture, is 30-35 years. The harvest is carried out manually. Stainless steel tanks are used for vinification, and oak barrels (50% new) are used for aging. The peak of maturity of the vintage will come in 2020-2028.

About the Manufacturer

Chateau Petit Faurie de Soutard was founded in 1850, when its vineyard was separated from the great Château Soutard, from which part of the name remains. The vineyards of the Château stretch over 8 hectares in the Saint-Émilion appellation, classified as Grand Cru. On the clay-limestone and sandy soils of the vineyards, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon vines are planted, the average age of which is 30 years. The wines of Château Petit Faurie de Soutard have a beautiful complexity and a very generous taste. The owners of the Château are the famous winemaking family Capdemourlin, who have owned lands in Saint-Émilion since 1580. The family gave its name to the small village where its descendants permanently lived for 400 years. Previously, the area was called Artugon, but it belonged to the family for so long that everyone forgot its old name and began to call it Capdemourlin. With the support of the famous winemaker Michel Rolland, the Capdemourlin family preferred reasonable control for phytosanitary protection in Château Petit Faurie de Soutard. The wines of the estate are aged in oak barrels, which are renewed annually by 50%.
